F.B. Head, in answer to charges preferred against him by Dr. Duncombe, in a petition presented to the House of Commons on the 19th August ; together with a copy of Lord Glenelg's. A violent attack was made on him in by Sir F.
Head, the eccentric ex-governor of Upper Canada. He alleged that Stephen's evil influence in the Colonial Office was the cause of the misgovernment of the Canadas, and described him as the incubus stifling Glenelg's measures.

He was a direct descendant of Lion Gardiner of East hampton, Long Island, one of the celebrities of colonial times. Jedeliah Mores, author of the first American geography and S. Morese of telegraph fame, were first cousins of the family, and the same is true of Abraham Clark the signer of the Declaration of Independence.
